Change a Life - WE NEED YOUR HELP
THE NEED/GOAL: Our goal is $60,000 to:
-- Re-establish an on-campus primary school
-- Expand the psychological support for the girls
-- Enhance our ability to provide medical care to both the girls, and the local community to continue to foster positive Guatemalan relationships.
-- Provide for maintenance support to our aging infrastructure.
We pray to achieve this through a combination of donations through this special campaign, and contributions / recurring donations made directly through our website at: DONATE NOW!
These needs are urgent, since so many of our girls come to Prince of Peace Home for Girls with little or no formal education and require special care to help them heal, rebuild their self-worth and deal with the trauma that they have had to cope with at such a young age.
More information on the home, it’s rich history, it’s mission, ways to sponsor girls and it’s leadership team is found on our website at www.PrinceofPeacegt.com .
We feel every girl at the home deserves a team to support her, won’t you join the team?

PARTNERSHIPS:
Prince of Peace Ministries, Inc. is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization in the U.S. and solely supports Prince of Peace Home for Girls in Guatemala...this makes all your contributions tax deductible. You will receive a recipt immediately from GOFUNDME stating your tax deductible donation.
The home is funded 100% by private individuals and churches through the U.S. based 501c3. We provide the opportunity for "teams" to visit to interact with the girls, as well as experience life in Guatemala. We currently have over 250 individual sponsors that assist with providing for the basic needs of each girl; but our recurring support falls short of both our monthly requirement, and required changes listed above.

HISTORY OF THE HOME:
Founded in 1986 by Al Sanchez, Prince of Peace Home for Girls is a refuge to abused and/or orphaned girls in the Guatemala City area. So many of these precious girls have been robbed of a childhood due to various difficult circumstances in their past, and the Home is a place for them to experience love, support, and safety.
Currently we have over 50 girls as young as 4 years old. Each child is court-appointed to the Home, and their stay ranges from a few months through adulthood, depending on their unique situation.
The Home provides food and shelter, educational opportunities, psychological support, and teaches the girls about God's love. Many of the girls refer to those at the Home as the "the family I've never had."

EXAMPLES OF GIRLS HEALING
Maria (not her real name)
We welcomed Maria to Prince of Peace (PoP) one December evening after the courts had removed her from her home.
She was 9 years old and had never been to school. One evening, she was home caring for her younger brother, when he mother returned home in an intoxicated state. She proceeded to beat Maria because the "house" was not clean. She managed to break away from her mother, but that caused her to focus her anger on Maria's brother. In an attempt to save her brother, Maria intervened. That's when her mother dumped scalding hot water on her, causing severe burns to both her hand and head.
When she first came to PoP, she would not interact with the other girls and was very self concious of her physical injuries. After much counselling and care from the staff at PoP, Maria has learned to forgive her mother and is a smiling, loving young girl. She is doing well in school, and beginning to catch up to her grade level. She would tell you PoP saved her life.

Ana (not her real name)
Many years ago, we welcomed Ana to PoP and have had the privilege to watch her grow up at the home, attend school, attend college and now, full circle, welcome new girls to the home and represent them in the Guatemalan court system as their advocate. Besides becoming a trained social worker, she is a loving wife and mother of 2 children and is studying to become a lawyer to support our precious girls even more. The Home gave her a chance at life in Guatemala and she has embraced it by giving back to the other girls at the home.

Story (in her words) of one of the girls we rescued from a terrible situation...
On July 4, 2003 my life changed when I came to Prince of Peace. When l entered the home l start going to school because I never been at school. l was 12 years old and couldn't read or write. At the home l started going to school and it’s been a light for my life. I came at the home because of sexual abuse, and my parents didn’t have the resources to take care of me.
As time passed, the home helped me get to school and to get a very good life. I was at Prine of Peace for 7 years. The home not only helped me with my school, but also they helped me emotionally, they taught me about the bible and what God did for me. They grew me into a good woman; the home taught me to do good. The people at the home were like my parents - people that trust the home and help me every month so that I could live at the home, get my education, and eat.
Time has passed and now I am a 25 year old adult. l have a wonderful family; my one son is 5 years old and he has been a blessing from God to me.
Also l have something really important to say: that l have a job at Prince of Peace with the girls has changed my life as well. I have been married for 5 years, and I am so happy because both of us know about Jesus.
I have a different life now because of Prince of Peace and because of the big hearts of the people; they didn't stop supporting me and they trusted me so that all this could happen. My heart is really thankful and is going to continue to be thankful to the people who support the home right now.
I have all this now because of each of you who helped me. Thank you very much.
