40 Years of Healing in Dominican Republic
For 40 years this medical mission group has gathered like-minded healthcare professionals to aid those in need in the Dominican Republic. Each October volunteers from all over the United States travel to the DR and spend a week providing medical, surgical, ophthalmic, dental, and prosthetic care to all who need it, no questions asked.
Each member of the group pays their own way and gathers supplies between each trip. It is expensive. In 2022 we were invited to a hospital in Sanchez in the Samana Province. Walls and electricity do not make a hospital. They and we are sorely in need of instrumentation, diagnostic tools, sterilizing equipment, medications, and other supplies to fill the community's and the hospital's needs. Also, moving our people back and forth from the airport in Santo Domingo and between the hospital and our lodging every day is costly. We need a bus and it needs gas and a driver.
This area is economically depressed. It is not uncommon for the men, women, and children of this area to travel many miles to receive any sort of aid. We help families gain medical and surgical care and we always bring school supplies, athletic equipment and comfort items for the community's children.
Part of this initiative is to provide medical services to the residents of this community without disrupting their cultural needs. These funds help transport us into the communities where medical needs can be met, should they be unable to come to us.
Any funds raised will be directly donated to the Pons Dominican Republic Medical Mission and every donation makes an impact. Thank you, in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to us.
Please donate whatever is feasible for you and share, share, share on every social platform!
