Today starts the 30 day countdown to a total abortion ban in TN which is why is why I’m starting my 30 day birthday campaign to raise $5000 for Planned Parenthood of TN and North Mississippi All I want for my birthday is for women to have full access to the healthcare they need, and equal rights in their ability to make their own decisions about their own bodies. Why? Because women are going to die in places like Nashville and greater TN because of this decision. Abortion is now a class-C felony in Tennessee, the same category of offense as aggravated assault, and punishable by up to fifteen years in prison.
This fundaiser will provide money towards transporting women to a place they can access care - where doctors won’t be conflicted about whether they have to weigh being taken to jail - or saving a woman’s life - for treating a miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, and more.
Why do I care so much? All of the volunteer hours I have to give have gone towards reproductive rights over the past 4 years.
- In 2018 - when I arrived in Tennessee, I started volunteering for Planned Parenthood by canvassing, phone banking, data entry, showing up to the legislature during our days on the hill to meet my representatives.
- In 2021 - I accepted the Volunteer of the Year award with PPTNM.
- In March of 2022 - I helped found a Planned Parenthood action council called the East Nashtivists and we have been building and growing every day since its inception. We have a strong leadership team that is going to make waves in the next few years educating, and activating voters.
