HELP GET FILTERS INTO OUR CLASSROOMS AND COMMON AREAS!!!

As the school year is starting we are all feeling nervous about the exposure of children to COVID-19, especially with the changes and challenges that the Delta variant presents. It is our goal to create a layered approach to keep our school ventilated with natural air as much as possible. To keep our kids as safe as possible -  and to keep our school open  - we are fundraising for air filters for each classroom. 

There is no AC in our 100+ year-old building. We are fortunate there are large windows that open and over the summer, the building ventilation system was updated by the district. The school does have several HEPA air purifiers throughout the building but none for each classroom. Air filters for each classroom will help our kids, staff, and educators feel safer and enjoy the school year, as well as provide a degree of more peace for us parents.

There are times during the school day when masks come off (lunch, snack time, nap time); that combined with long hours, the inevitability of positive cases, and the change of seasons when natural ventilation and outdoor time will not be possible mean that we’d like to help the school take every precaution possible to keep the Delta variant from spreading.  

We are looking to provide Medify Medical Grade Air Filters to all classrooms that do not yet have stand-alone filters in place. Please consider a donation in any amount. A suggested contribution of even $15-$25 would help us get to our goal. Please share this with your family members and friends that are concerned about the health and safety of our students! This fundraiser is being organized by the Pittsburgh Montessori School PTA: Pittsburgh Montessori is a magnet pre-K through 5 school and is part of the Pittsburgh Public School system. The PTA's purpose is to support the school, students, parents and caretakers of students who attend Pittsburgh Montessori (or are about to attend) and the school community at large. We are a 501(c)3 and all donations are tax-deductible.

Welcome to the Pittsburgh Montessori School's 2019 Read-A-Thon Fundraiser Page!

For two weeks (April 13h - April 27th), our students will pledge to read for a certain number of minutes each day and then log their daily minutes on a tally sheet.

We're asking sponsors to donate a flat amount to encourage your child to meet their reading goal!

Important: Please indicate the name of the child you are supporting (first name, last initial) and teacher's name (if you know it) when you donate. The class that collectively reads the most will win an ice cream party!

The student who reads the most in each grade level (3-6, lower elementary, and upper elementary), and the top reader for the school, will each win a gift certificate to our local independent book store,  White Whale Bookshop. 

The best part of the Read-A-Thon is that 100% of the money raised will stay at Pittsburgh Montessori and directly benefit our kids by supporting vital yet underfunded programming including fund field trips, the Grow Pittsburgh garden curriculum and purchases for classrooms. This year, 50% of money raised will be will spent on new Montessori materials for the classrooms!

Last year we raised more than $4000! With your help, we are hoping to do even better and be able to support the school even more.
