PCRC Rowathon 26
Rowing Together for Community, Juniors & Inclusion
On Saturday 16 May 2026, something special is happening at Peterborough City Rowing Club.
For 12 continuous hours, rowers of all ages and abilities will take to the lake, river, and indoor rowing machines — pushing themselves not just for distance, but for people.
This is the PCRC 12-Hour Rowathon, and every metre rowed helps open the sport of rowing to more people in our community.
Why We’re Rowing
Rowing is more than a sport. It builds:
• Physical health and mental wellbeing
• Confidence, teamwork, and resilience
• Belonging — regardless of age, background, or ability
But for many people, rowing can feel out of reach due to cost, lack of equipment, or limited inclusive opportunities.
That’s where this Rowathon comes in.
What We’re Raising Money For
Every donation goes directly to making rowing accessible and affordable at PCRC. Your support will help us:
Grow Community Rowing
• Subsidise beginner and taster sessions
• Reduce financial barriers to participation
• Reach local community groups who may never have tried rowing before
Support Junior Rowing
• Maintain and replace essential equipment
• Fund coaching development and safeguarding training
• Keep junior rowing affordable for families
Expand Inclusive & Adaptive Rowing
• Purchase adaptive equipment
• Train coaches in inclusive practices
• Deliver sessions for under-represented and disabled rowers
How the Rowathon Works
• 12 hours of continuous rowing: 7:00am – 7:00pm
• Rowing takes place on the lake, river, and indoor ergs
• Participants row solo or in teams
• Typical challenges: 25k, 50k, 75k or even 100k
• Supporters can sponsor: per kilometre, per hour or a one-off donation
Every stroke adds up.
A Community Event, Not Just a Fundraiser
On the day, we’ll also:
• Welcome the public to watch and learn about rowing
• Invite people to try rowing machines
• Offer volunteering opportunities
• Showcase inclusive sport in action
Local businesses can sponsor teams, hours, or equipment — helping us row even further together.
Creating a Lasting Legacy
This Rowathon isn’t a one-off.
Our goal is to make it an annual event, building long-term support for:
• Junior development
• Inclusive rowing
• Stronger community wellbeing through sport
How You Can Help
• Donate whatever you can — every pound makes a difference
• Share this page with friends, family, and colleagues
• Cheer us on as we row hour after hour
Together, we can make sure rowing at PCRC is open, welcoming, and accessible to everyone.
Thank you for being part of our journey ❤️
