Tayon Vereen, SR +109 Division

Tayon Vereen is a 2023 graduate of Brewton Parker College with a BA in accounting. Vereen is currently enrolled in the MBA program at GSU. His athletic accomplishments include:

— 2X JR World Team Member

— 2019 JR Pan American Champion

— 6 Nationals Titles

— 2023 & 2024 University Record Holder

The FISU America Games are a multi-sport event sanctioned by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). Alternating with the Summer and Winter World University Games, which invite all the countries of the world for the biennial events, the FISU America Games are a regional multi-sport event similar to the Pan-American Games for FISU member-countries of North America (including those in Central America) and South America held in even-numbered years.

UniUSA brings together the nation’s most talented student-athletes, in global university-level competition organized by FISU, the governing body for university sport worldwide. With an impressive list of former UniUSA student-athletes going on to compete with distinction at Pan American and Olympic Games, as well as at the highest levels of professional sport, UniUSA provides a platform for future success. Participation selection and priority is given to individuals and teams that best represent the United States, both on and off the field.

The 2024 FISU America Games will be the third edition of the FISU America games, held in Cali, Columbia from November 5-14, 2024. The Games will have USA Team representation in up to 13 sports against 20-25 participating countries.

The opportunity for these talented athletes to compete is immeasurable. Not only do they get to learn about other countries, cultures, and communities, these young people learn the importance of diplomacy, communication and developing long-term relationships around the world to build a stronger future and world for themselves and future generations.

Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit Performance Initiatives, Inc., and any donation will help make an impact. We are raising funds specifically to support these athletes on their journey to the 2024 USA Weightlifting National Championships in Pittsburgh, PA June 14-23rd. Our PI Champions have worked year round to train and prepare for the 2024 USA Weightlifting Nationals Week.

CJ Walker (13U/+73kg) is a 2023 Youth National Champion, full of laughter and joy, returning to the platform to share his growth in strength and resilience!

Nyanza Wilson (14-15/+76kg) is a high Honor Roll student in the medical program at Beach High School. She has trained diligently to earn her way to her first Youth National Championships! Zachariah Hendrix (16-17/61kg) is a student at Savannah Early College, looking forward to improving his ranking from last year!

“Zach” as we call him, is a Junior at Savannah High Early College. Zach is an Honor Roll student, balancing his education and training. Zach enjoys fixing things and using his skills to help around our PI Facility. “This experience has been fun for me ever since I began. It helps me focus and gain muscle. I am very excited to be able to represent my team and city at nationals.”

Na'Erykah Goodwin (23U/87kg) is a veteran lifter since her youth, recently graduated from Brewton Parker College, she continues her athletic journey in weightlifting‍♂️. Na'Erykah currently mentors and coaches at PI while preparing for law school in the Fall.

CJ Walker's Youth Nationals prep

Performance Initiatives is a not for profit 501 c3 organization founded in 2005 in Savannah, Georgia. We work hand in hand with Coastal Empire Weightlifting. The purpose of the organization is to educate and mentor youth and adults mentally, physically and spiritually by using athletics and fitness, with olympic-style weight lifting as the base.
