Nourishing People is all about giving something back.

This year we’re proud to donate our snacks free of charge for every goody bag at the SEYH Awards in March. It’s our way of celebrating the amazing social enterprises across Yorkshire and sharing a little bit of what we do best.

Each snack includes a QR code where guests can make a voluntary donation. Every penny raised supports People Matters and Nourishing People to create more opportunities for people with learning disabilities, autistic people, and those with hidden disabilities. Your support helps people grow confidence, build skills, and live more independent, fulfilling lives.

People Matters began in 2002 and have a proven track record in working with people with learning disabilities and autism to live independently, seek and gain employment and be active members of their community.

Through innovative, person-centred individualised programmes of supported social & learning activities, barriers are addressed & overcome to raise confidence, visualise and realise aspirations and increase independence.

We offer individual 1-2-1 support, social groups from teens to adulthood and employment opportunities in work-based programs such as Nourishing People our micro social enterprise where members gain experience in running a small business. From packaging the product to sales and marketing and delivery they learn all aspects of running a small business.

Our Wellbeing Group is for anyone, particularly neurodiverse people, who often struggled the most through the pandemic and social isolation. The group have been creative during the winter, and last summer had a wide variety of outdoor activites including trips on Leeds Liverpool canal and football training with staff from Leeds United.

'My Body, My Choice' gives advice and guidence on sexual matters including safe sex and gender identity amongst many others.
