Pella Community Band Boosters Inc

Pella Community Band Boosters supports the musical journey of Pella Public School’s band students through fundraising and community engagement.

The Pella Marching Dutch are an annual marching band powerhouse in the State of Iowa. The Marching Dutch are an extension of the Pella Community and have relevance to the community in two distinct and important ways.

First, The Marching Dutch have an impact on our community with one in every four (25%) of the student body at Pella Schools participating in marching band. This has a lasting impact on the students with the life lessons developed through their participation in the band and this singular activity has the most reach of any extra curricular activity offered. The depth of the reach goes beyond the students and extends to their family and friends, many of whom are current and former band members. The sense of pride between the Marching Dutch and the community are interconnected. This impact was seen at 2024 Tulip Time festivities when hundreds of former band members spanning multiple decades participated in the parade to show the impact the Marching Dutch and Guy Blair had on their lives and the pride they still share as a band and community.

Two, In recent years the band has been an ambassador of the Pella Community at the Tournament of Roses parade and regional Bands of America competitions. In those instances the band has represented the Pella Community with class and distinction creating an alliance between the band and its connection with the community. In these events the Marching Dutch are an extension of our community.

Three, the Pella Marching Dutch have grown in the last number of years. The band will grow from 210 members this competition year to an anticipated 220 members in the fall of 2025. This growth will create a shortfall in uniforms. Additionally the band’s uniforms are aging and need to be replaced.
