Hi my name is Laura. I am the founder and president of Pawsitively Furever Dog rescue. We are a small 501 (c)3 rescue and have be around since 2014. We opened an adoption center in order to provide our dogs with a place to have meet and greets in a controlled and comfortable setting. Due to the rising cost of rent and now taxes attached to the center, we can no longer afford to continue there. Over the years, we have had many dogs who required thousands of dollars in medical care, either for sickness or surgeries (leg amputations, eye removal, fixation of fractures etc). I also have paid thousands for dogs that we have adopted out that have incurred a medical crisis or required surgery. Some scenarios, we have paid up to $12,000.
I am about the dog! This has thrust into a situation that we are having a hard time escaping from. All care was placed on credit cards and now with the rising cost of leasing the supplies for the dogs and for fosters have added onto that. Some say raise the adoption fee, but I cannot do that. We do not base our adoption fees on the cuteness, how fluffy they are, how in demand they are or if they can fit in your purse. Its the same for everyone across the board.
So as of 7/31/25 we will no longer have our adoption center and moving all operations to Petsmart in Paramus. We have no other choice. At this time we have to close any intake until the 8 dogs we currently have find their furever homes.
I will be transparent, all monies donated will go to the credit card totals in order to get us as near into the black as we can.
I don't want to give this up. It is part of me. I have made wonderful friends with our clients. Each dog has touched me in a way that makes my heart grow. Each client that i encounter has reminded me there is good in this world. They show each pup the love they would never had had.
If you consider donating to the rescue, I will be deeply grateful. You all know I hate doing this.
