Jaidee came to us in March from a local community cat colony and it was noted that she was dragging her foot behind her.

When she was examined, it was determined that she most likely tore the ligaments in her ankle so she is unable to walk properly.

There is a surgical option to fuse her joint so she can put her foot on the ground instead of dragging it behind her. It is technically difficult and can only be done by a board certified orthopedic surgeon. There is also a lot of after care that will be required.

The other alternative is to amputate the leg.

 

 

We are trying to give her a chance to walk relatively normally and hope that fixing her ankle will be a better option than amputation. We would then love to see her rehomed to a safe place.

Hi there! My name is Argent and I am a 2 year old FIV+ kitty who is in need of your help:

Unfortunately, I had a very rough start to my kitty life. The streets of RI are where I called “home” for a while. And to make matters worse... some very inconsiderate kids who lived in the area would tease and torment me- spraying me with the hose, throwing sand at me, etc. But one day, I was rescued by an angel who brought me to Pawswatch Community Cat Center of RI. At that time, I was described as looking like 'roadkill'- I was matted, had ringworm, lice, mites and frostbitten ears. It took awhile for me to trust again, but I finally did. Luckily, I think my charm finally paid off- because a few months ago, I found my FURever home. I now live happily with my humans- mom & dad, and my 2 fur brothers!

Although I have found a loving family and my days of neglect are over, unfortunately I have been diagnosed with a condition called Stomatitis. Stomatitis and mouth issues are common in cats that are FIV+, like me. The condition causes extremely swollen gums, which makes it very painful to eat and especially painful to groom or rub against things- causing me to drool, yelp and become discouraged with what I’m doing. And if that wasn’t bad enough... I also have lesions in my throat, which further causes immense soreness and discomfort.

I recently saw a doctor who believes if I have some teeth removed, it may help to ease my pain and improve my quality of life. However, this is an expensive surgery- which is why I am asking for your support today.

I haven’t had it easy during my life, but I am hoping this surgery will continue to turn things around for me.
