At Passion Rescue Mission, they know how education can change the game forever. Every child on our planet deserves an education, and we believe every child can learn!
This mission was founded in 2009 by Pastor Genese (Gene) Vertus and is a small but mighty 501©3 non-profit focused in a remote area of Haiti. Passion Rescue Mission was born out of a family legacy and tradition, a late father (Genecoit Vertus) with a love of education and a heart for humanity, and a son (Genese Gene Vertus) who strives to give back and has seen that education can break the chain of poverty.
The heartbeat of the mission is The Genecoit Vertus School of Excellence, a rare tuition-free school for 225 students from Kindergarten to 6th grade. Despite the lack of electricity and running water on the campus, substantial academic progress grows each year, as proven by the long waitlist!
As we close out 2022, we look forward, not back, always working towards sustainable, relevant progress. We ask for Mt. Hermon Church to join in building 3 new classrooms, as they are desperately needed to serve the educational needs of the kids. Our goal is $6,000 for all 3 classrooms as this covers all building materials, labor for local carpenters, and benches and desks for the interior of each. This is a great way to be a part of lasting change because an education is the one thing in life that no one can ever take away from you!
