Park Slope Volunteer Ambulance Needs Your Help!
Park Slope Volunteer Ambulance Corp (PSVAC) is a 100% volunteer ambulance agency who has served the greater Park Slope community and New York City since 1992. Whether it's responding to medical emergencies, offering community education programs, or participating in disaster response efforts, we are committed to ensuring the well-being of our neighbors. We rely on the support of our community to maintain our daily operations and need your help now more than ever.
On the evening of Thursday, April, 11, 2024, while on scene of an emergency call, our ambulance, PS-1, experienced a malfunction resulting in the front cab being engulfed in flames. The two crew members who were in the ambulance acted quickly, evacuating the ambulance and requesting the fire department to extinguish the flames. Despite all efforts, the ambulance was not able to be saved. This is not only a loss for PSVAC, but for the community as a whole.
PSVAC is a registered 501(c)(3) not for profit, and as such, your donation is tax deductible to the extent permissible by law. Our volunteers come from all walks of life, to provide help to the residents and visitors of New York City. PSVAC provides 911 emergency ambulance response within the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) emergency response system, as well as assisting with numerous local and community events. Last year PSVAC responded to over 1,000 calls and provided standby at over 60 events.
We are asking for your help to raise funds towards a new ambulance to replace PS-1. As we enter the year’s warmest months, it is imperative that we assist the emergency response system with ambulances that are available to help the community. With your help, we can continue to provide high quality pre-hospital care to our neighbors, friends, and family.
