P O P S Parents of Pearland Scouts Inc

We are P.O.P.S., Parents of Pearland Scouts. We are a non-profit organization located just south of Houston, Texas, that assists scouts and scouting units throughout Brazoria County, Texas, but primarily in Pearland, Texas.

Recently, a group of scouts in one of the units we support attended a competition for Order of the Arrow ceremonies. The Order of the Arrow is scouting’s national honor society. While there, they were approached by an adult adviser for a scouting group located in Tokyo, Japan, that services the dependents of U.S. service members located in Japan and throughout the Asian Pacific Islands.

This ceremonies team was asked to help staff a camp and perform the ceremonies for those youth in Japan. They approached us asking for assistance with travel and lodging costs so that they can help out.

We are looking for approximately $15,000 so that we can provide plane tickets and lodging for this group of youth and their supervising adults to go to Tokyo in June and assist with this scout camp.

We are anticipating $1200-$1500 per round trip plane ticket. We are looking to send 6-8 youth and 2-3 supervising adults. We would also need to get lodging. We are anticipating 3 rooms at approximately $100 each per night, times 6 nights.

Any excess donations will go directly to buy equipment and pay for programs for other scouts in our local area.
