Our House

We are Jack and Callum, two first graders from Ann Arbor, Michigan, now doing home school with our parents because of the Coronavirus.  Every day we have been thinking of something to be thankful for and so far our top 4 are that we have a warm home, yummy food, cool toys and parents that love us. 

Our Mum volunteers with a charity www.ourhousemi.org   that works with older foster youth (age 14+). Our House cares for them and teaches them how to look after themselves as they grow up to become adults.  Most of these kids don't have their own home or parents to care for them and this makes us very sad and worried for their safety.

Jack wanted to give all his money box savings to buy them a house - he has $28 and 7 cents.  Callum says that is not enough and our parents agree. Jack thinks that  if all the kids around the world gave $1 from their money box maybe that would be enough.  Callum thinks that would be impossible to do, but Jack feels that if we started by asking our friends......and then they asked their friends, it should just take a few days!!

Our parents suggested that maybe this could be our "home school" science project and we LOVE this idea - we have called it Project Moneybox.  We want to raise one trillion dollars, but our parents think that is not very realistic.  They suggested $350,000 could be a great start.

Unfortunately the $5 minimum donation (standard for all online platforms) has meant that we have had to modify Jack's original plan.  Instead of $1 per child, we will need to ask for $5 per family unit, or group of friends that might like to club together.

We quickly realised that this would take a lot of work, so decided to invite our friends to join Project Moneybox and help us. We are going to work together as one big team to reach out to all the kids we know around the USA / World and ask if they will donate the equivalent of US $5 from their money boxes.  We have made a Project Moneybox Facebook page so you can see how our project is going   We would love you to join us and help us with your ideas. https://www.facebook.com/groups/498878607657175/

So Kids........ would you and your parents be willing to donate some money from your money boxes to help these kids feel safe and cared for?   (We're all kids at heart so don't worry if you are an adult, you can donate too!)

We'll need lots of help, so would you also be willing to share Project Moneybox with your friends and relatives and ask them to help too?
