Our Community School Field Trip-Pali Outdoor Ed.
My name is Jude Stabiler. I am a founding teacher of an award-winning charter school in the Los Angeles area. We started our school in 2005 with a mission to honor every child, provide parents, students, and educators with school choice, and share stakeholder voices toward our common goals of being and becoming informed, ethical, and empowered members of our local and global communities. Getting students into the world is a big part of this mission. Field trips and experiential learning are vital, especially since Covid lockdowns and distance learning.
Our Community School (OCS) and I want to get our 6th graders back into the world. My partner teacher, Stefanie and I plan a yearly trip to Pali Outdoor Education Institute. The last two years were canceled. This year we are eager to get our students on the road and back into nature, where they will learn engineering, biology, aerodynamics, astronomy, character, and team-building skills, to name a few.
The cost is $360 per student for our 50 6th graders. This fee includes our three-day, two-night science adventure and all meals. My family is underwriting the cost of transportation to Running Springs, CA, a two-hour trip from OCS. Please join me in making this trip a reality by giving a tax-deductible donation to Our Community School to support the 6th grade Pali Outdoor Education field trip.
