Our community is heartbroken.

OSCAR, One Step Closer Animal Rescue recently suffered a devastating fire that completely destroyed their shelter. In a matter of moments, years of hard work, dedication, and love were lost. This shelter has been a safe haven for vulnerable animals providing rescue, medical care, rehabilitation, and second chances to countless dogs who had nowhere else to go.

Now they need us.

We are starting this fundraiser to support OSCAR One Step Closer Animal Rescue as they begin the long and emotional journey of rebuilding. Every single dollar raised will go directly to the shelter to help with:

• Rebuilding and repair costs

• Replacing kennels, equipment, and supplies

• Veterinary expenses

• Temporary housing and care for displaced animals

• Essential day-to-day operations during this transition

Animal Shelters all over struggle to gain funds, donations, and recognition especially in the winter season when the community tends to forget about the shelter. This incredible organization dedicates its efforts to keeping these animals happy and safe all year long. As well as finding them loving forever homes where they can thrive. On February 11, 2026, our world changed in a matter of minutes.

A devastating fire tore through our One Step Closer Animal Rescue (OSCAR) shelter in Andover, NJ. The building that has been a safe haven for so many dogs suffered catastrophic damage.

Most heartbreakingly, three of our beloved dogs lost their lives in the fire. We are grieving them deeply. They were not just animals in our care. They were part of our family.

At the time of the fire, we were caring for approximately 40 dogs. Thanks to the heroic efforts of first responders, volunteers, and partner rescues, many dogs were safely evacuated and transported to emergency foster homes and veterinary facilities. Some are being treated for injuries. All are shaken. So are we.

But OSCAR is not giving up.

Our shelter building is currently uninhabitable.

We have always operated with heart, grit, and the support of this community. Now we need you more than ever.

We were asked to help rescue 6 mini schnauzers from a "breeder" who had medical issues and was closing down her "shop" . They were in horrific shape. The dogs were severely matted especially around the head, had horrendous teeth, worms, splayed feet from living in wire cages and were very scared. They all required dental cleanings, shots, deworming, blood testing, neuter, & grooming. One had a large hernia that need to be repaired and the other had multiple lumps on his little head that turned out to be sebaceous cysts caused by ingrown hairs from being so matted on his little head. We have stepped up to get everything that needed to be done to get these pups healthy and feeling better but could use some help as the vet bills have gone beyond what we normally pay and we still have a couple of other dogs with upcoming medical issues being addressed.
