Poor Bolt Can't Open His Injured Jaw. Can You Help Him?
My name is Bolt, and I was found three years ago as a homeless starving puppy in Amman, Jordan.
A lot of dogs in this city are abused and treated poorly, so I was lucky that a nice man picked me up off the street and took me home.
Once he checked me over, he was shocked to determine that someone had injured me so badly that my jaw was badly broken.
As soon as he was able, he sent me off to a doctor who tried to help me. But instead, the doctor made my situation even worse….
For the next two years, I could only open my mouth about 1/8 of an inch! (As you can imagine, everything from chewing, drinking, barking, panting, defending myself--and even vomiting was impossible.)
Because the gentleman who found me couldn’t find a qualified specialist to help me, he then started saving his money, and he recently paid to have me fly all the way from Jordan to a special medical needs rescue in Wisconsin. (As you can imagine, this transport was very expensive. But…he saw what a sweet nature I have and--because I had such a rough beginning--he was determined to do everything he could to see that I had a chance at a happy, normal life.)
Now I am with the rescue that he sent me to (One Starfish Rehoming Connections) and they are working with Dr. Silbernagel, a very well known Board Certified veterinary orthopedic surgeon in Madison Wisconsin. After looking at my x-rays and CT scans, Dr. Silbernagel says he is amazed that I have survived this long! But…good news: he wants to help me, by surgically repairing my frozen jaw and allowing me to live a long normal life. (After my surgery, my face will be kind of lopsided, but that’s OK…my rescue says I will look even cuter then!)
Unfortunately, my surgery will cost almost $6000, and the rescue who took me in doesn’t have the financial resources to pay for the procedure….. So I am begging you to please help me, by donating to our fundraiser here. (Large or small, EVERY donation will help, and will be very much appreciated.)
One Starfish Rehoming Connections is a 501c3 (not for profit charity), so your donation will be tax deductible.
(And if you prefer to send a check to the rescue,
their address is PO Box 404, Columbus Wi. 53925)
Thank you so much!
