Ahora que las guacamayas comienzan a anidar en los bosques y sabanas de Honduras, su supervivencia depende de si alguien las observa. Los amantes de las aves saben esta verdad: una vez que se pierde un nido, desaparece con él un futuro.

En La Moskitia, Honduras, las guacamayas en peligro de extinción están entrando en una temporada crítica de anidación. Y con ello, se produce un aumento en la caza furtiva ilegal impulsada por el comercio mundial de vida silvestre y mascotas exóticas. Sin una protección constante, muchos de estos nidos no sobrevivirán.

Durante más de 15 años, One Earth Conservation ha trabajado junto a comunidades indígenas para proteger a estas aves: custodiando nidos, rescatando loros y devolviéndolos a su hábitat natural. Juntos, hemos salvaguardado más de 1000 nidos de guacamaya que, de otro modo, habrían sido robados.

Pero la realidad es dura:

Incluso con patrullas las 24 horas y guardianes acampando cerca de los nidos, la caza furtiva aún alcanza casi el 20 %. Sin fondos para combustible, suministros y patrullas locales capacitadas, esa cifra aumentará, y una vez que se pierde un nido, no se puede reemplazar.

Por eso, estamos recaudando urgentemente $15,000 para apoyar la protección inmediata sobre el terreno de los nidos de guacamayos y de los guardianes indígenas que los defienden.

En 2026, la Reverenda Dra. Hi, I'm Gail Koelln, and I am reaching out to you to support One Earth Conservation's recently launched Unconditional Solidarity Campaign.

Right now, as macaws begin to nest in the forests and savannas of Honduras, their survival depends on whether someone is watching. Bird lovers know this truth: once a nest is lost, a future disappears with it.

Right now in La Moskitia, Honduras, endangered macaws are entering a critical nesting season. And with it comes a surge in illegal poaching driven by the global wildlife and exotic pet trade. Without constant protection, many of these nests will not survive.

For more than 15 years, One Earth Conservation has worked alongside Indigenous communities to protect these birds—guarding nests, rescuing parrots, and returning them to the wild. Together, we have safeguarded over 1,000 macaw nests that would otherwise have been stolen.

But the reality is stark:

Even with round-the-clock patrols and guardians camping near nests, poaching still reaches nearly 20%. Without funding for fuel, supplies, and trained local patrols, that number will rise—and once a nest is lost, it cannot be replaced.

That’s why we are urgently raising $15,000 to support immediate, on-the-ground protection of macaw nests and the Indigenous guardians who defend them.

Every dollar matters:

In 2026, Rev. Dr. LoraKim Joyner will travel to La Moskitia to stand in unconditional solidarity—camping alongside community guardians, witnessing the protection of nests firsthand, and sharing daily updates so supporters can stay connected to the endangered birds they are helping save.

This is not symbolic work.

This is survival work.

Parrot Stars is proud to support One Earth Conservation , a non-profit organization whose mission is closely aligned with our own. That is to spread awareness and education about the importance of wildlife conservation (specifically around parrots).

One Earth Conservation has been working with local conservationists on Ometepe Island, Nicaragua for over 10 years to build out a parrot conservation project that has one of the densest populations of parrots across the Americas.

Recently, our own Alexis and Joyce had the opportunity to travel to Nicaragua to participate in the Parrot Pilgrimage —a unique experience that allows people to experience and connect with nature in a way that is not possible in our day to day lives. This experience helps fund and support the local conservationists who do this amazing and necessary conservation work to preserve endangered parrot species and maintain biodiversity.

Alexis and Joyce left so inspired and moved by the experience that they want to take what they've learned and share it with the local Parrot Stars community. Beyond that, we want to continue supporting One Earth Conservation and their mission to protect parrots, people, and the planet!
