Old Souls Animal Rescue &Retirement Home

Here at Old Souls, we rescue geriatric, special needs, and hospice animals. We provide them with a loving home, a soft bed, pain management, and the dignified end of life that they deserve. We take in aging animals from people who can no longer care for them due to their own medical conditions, many of whom are moving into nursing homes or hospice care. We also take in aging animals from military families who are being re-stationed overseas, knowing that their beloved pet may not survive the trip. And of course, we take in the oldest, sickest animals that end up at shelters.

We have done this since 2010. However, we recently reached a pivotal point in our journey. We realized that there is a much bigger need for Old Souls than we ever imagined. With incredible support and encouragement from our community and supporters everywhere, we have decided to move to the country where we can expand our operations, and better serve the animals who need us, not just in Yuma, but in communities all over the southwest desert.

We recently received an incredibly generous donation of 8 acres of land here in Yuma, AZ from the Yuma Jaycees Foundation!  What a great start to making this move a reality! Now we need to create a site plan and secure building permits before we can actually build anything on the property. We plan to have pastures for horses, goats, pigs, and chickens; a tortoise lair for our sulcata tortoises; a swimming pool and spa for hydrotherapy; a volunteer/meet-up area with shade, picnic tables, and restroom facilities; an event pavilion for workshops; a country store where we can sell eggs, Old Souls gear, and local art; a memorial garden; and a spacious parking lot with a drop off location for buses.

While we fundraise here on Go Fund Me, we will be working on securing in-kind donations for the materials we need to ensure that the property will be everything we dream of for the animals.
