The Old Brick House Foundation has a two-part mission. One part addresses the development of a marketing program, while the other addresses the restoration of the Old Brick House (OBH).  Part 1. To develop programs to educate the public about the Conjurer’s Field Archaeological District (on the National Historic Register), which recognizes the following sites within the District:The Conjurer’s Field Archaeological Site “ prehistoric village,” one of the few remaining large Middle and Late Woodland Period (1,000 B.C.–3,000 B.C.) hamlets and villages existing along the Appomattox River from Hopewell to Petersburg, having escaped destruction from recent industrial and residential housing development (Conjurer's Field Archeological Site 44CF20)The Old Brick House (OBH), also known as the Kennon House, which is on the National Resource Register as a contributing resource. The OBH is one of the oldest brick structures in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and the descendants of the original owner, Richard Kennon, include high-ranking officers of the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. The Kennon lineage includes Pocahontas and several U.S. presidents.  (Conjurer's Neck Archeological District 44CF646)  Part 2. To restore, preserve and provide for the perpetual care of the Old Brick House.  Of central importance are the continued restoration and maintenance of the historic structure, plans to increase Old Brick House's visibility as a wedding and special-events venue (which will help raise funds for its upkeep) and the preservation of the gravestones associated with the house.
