2023 TOP 10 CNN HERO
The Elevate Prize Foundation will be matching donations to all of the 2023 Top 10 CNN Heroes up to $50,000 per hero.
Growing up in Ghana, Osei Boateng saw family and community members struggle with life-threatening yet preventable medical conditions because there was little access to health care. While studying biology in the US, he made it his life’s mission to bring medical care to remote areas of Ghana. He started his nonprofit, OKB Hope Foundation, and in 2021, he converted a van into a mobile doctor’s office that has since provided free health care to 4,000 people in more than 45 rural communities. The organization has also trained 20 volunteers to serve as health advocates in their communities and provided more than 1,000 students with free mental health education and resources.
