Coach Bob Blashill Memorial Fund
I am very sorry to share that this morning March 20, 2019, Coach Bob passed away after battling complications from untreated diabetic hypertension over the past few weeks. Coach Bob was 62 years young.
Coach Bob was born in Madrid, Spain and grew up mostly in California where he swam competitively for Deanza Swim club, Andrew Hill High School and San Jose State University. Coach Bob graduated from San Jose State in 1983 where he studied Human Performance. Throughout his coaching career that spans over 30 years he has coached swimming and water polo on the high school and club levels (both age group and senior swimming). In addition to that Bob was a P.E. teacher and directed a swim school for many years.
Prior to becoming a coach with Occoquan Swimming (OCCS) in 2011 Coach Bob was a coach for QDD. His impact in shaping the lives and helping young athletes achieve great things through swimming spans over 40 years and both coast of the USA. Coach Bob was the lead coach for the Warrenton swim programs over the past seven years for OCCS before taking over as one of the senior coaches at Manassas Central last fall. Coach Bob lived swimming and showed his passion for helping others be inspired by this great sport. He will be missed but never forgotten.
We would like to set up a scholarship fund in his name that will help support a needing family to swim with Occoquan Swimming. The criteria and awarding of this scholarship will be based on income criteria and the traits that Coach Bob promoted in his coaching over his long career in the sport. We hope to honor him through this and keep his name in our hearts and minds forever.
Thank you in advance for your consideration
