Round the Block Marathon for the Nyack Center
2020 has been dark, sad and trying for all of us. The end of the year is now shaping up to be financially bleak for so many. In a time like this we should look to bolster the organizations that provide essential support for those who need it the most. I would like to do my part by putting my legs to work. Fall marathons have been my annual tradition for the past 8 years, and in lieu of an officially sanctioned race this year, I have created my own unique race: The ‘Round the Block Marathon at 7a on Sunday, October 25, 2020. I will literally be running 87.33 loops around my block to complete 26.2 miles. Why? Because running .30 mile loops is an incredible opportunity to allow others to run with me, either in person (socially distanced) or virtually, while raising money for a cause that means a lot to me and to my community: the Nyack Center.
Nyack Center is a non-profit organization providing a welcoming gathering space for vital before-and-after school programs, cultural celebrations, and community events. Nyack Center is more than a community building; it is a place for building community.
Here are the details:
This will work similar to the “Jog-A-Thons” of old: I will pledge $10 per mile for every mile I run. I would like YOU to pledge any amount you would like for every mile you walk or run (feel free to donate without having to walk or run either!). You can pledge $1, $10, $20 (or more) for every 1, 2, 3 (or more) miles you run, donating through this GoFundMe page directly to Nyack Center. My goal is to raise $2,620 (Marathon = 26.2 miles x 100).
