In order to protect her identity, I am setting up this GoFundMe on behalf of the actual owner of the dogs in the viral video of Mr. Cobos that was shared on social media. She is devastated by what has happened to her dogs. Despite the cruelty inflicted on them, they are doing as well as they can be, and we are working hard to make them feel safe and loved.

Billy, the white and brown basset hound who received the brunt of the abuse, is struggling to adjust amidst all of these changes and the trauma he endured. He is on various pain and antibiotic medications and is refusing to eat. His personality has also changed drastically. Where once there was a very happy and social dog, now there is a dog who is reserved and skittish. It is heartbreaking watching this transformation, and it truly brings you to tears. I can see it in his eyes how traumatized he is.

She and the dogs—Nani, Billy, Trunks, and MJ—are safe as they are currently staying with me. However, in a one-bedroom, one-bath apartment with two dogs, a cat of my own, and with four more dogs added to the mix, it’s been a bit hectic! We are trying to find her a place of her own as she was evicted from the previous residence due to Mr. Cobos’ actions; though she never planned on staying there regardless. There is additional stress on her as she faces veterinary bills as a result of the abuse.

She temporarily has to commute 2 hours or more a day, 6 days out of the week, just to make a living for these dogs. Unfortunately, with not being there as often as she’d like, she was completely unaware of his behavior towards her dogs. When she learned what had happened, she was disgusted. She is a dog lover. Anyone who knows this individual knows that her dogs are her whole life, and she sees them as her own children.

A little more info on the dogs: Billy and Nani, the basset hounds, are both four years old. She has raised them their whole lives, and they are her pride and joy. She has always paid for their vet visits, their grooming, and their food. The other two dogs, Trunks and MJ, they got together and are a little under and over a year old. After what happened, she refused to risk them going back into his possession and decided to take them all in. She wanted to minimize any added trauma if she separated them or risk them going to anyone else who might not take care of them. This creates more stress on her financially as she now suddenly has four dogs to care for. She is doing it because she knows it’s the right thing to do, and she loves these dogs as her own children as well.

I wish I could do more for her. I am not rich by any means, and neither is she, especially now that she has to completely start over and has no home of her own. I wanted to start a GoFundMe for her and her dogs to find accommodations and to pay for vet bills. It would truly be a blessing if people are willing to help her, and I know she needs all the support she can get.
