The Celts were a people not easily defeated. Through their strong cultures, magical imaginations, and dedicated hearts, the Celtic people lead lives, working long and hard to ensure a future filled with community, passion, lore, and tradition.

The Northern Arizona Celtic Heritage Society is dedicated to furthering these goals each year with a Celtic Festival on the third weekend in July and additional events built on Celtic traditions throughout the year.

For the last 25 years, Flagstaff has hosted hundreds of volunteers sharing this magical dedication to teach and expose the community to Celtic music, dance, games, lore, tastes and so very much more, with workshops and merriment. Each year growing, the word spreads of this amazing experience and, in all but 2023 we entertain and educate thousands of attendees.

But 2023 was different. Despite all the usual coordination and preparations, it was 96 degrees in the Arizona highlands; far too hot to draw the customary crowds at the festival. Many opted to stay home. Attendance was 1/3 the expected. It was simply too hot!

As a result, NACHS members must pull ourselves up by the bootstraps, buckle down, and put our heads together to raise over $40,000 to ensure our festival continues next year, at the same quality of learning we are known for.

For this reason, we are asking for your support. If you, too, feel your heart skip a beat when you hear the drone of a bagpipe, notice the sparkle of curiosity in a child’s eye when he spies a leprechaun, or hope that someday you’ll find the time to learn why your great grandfathers left their homelands, or even enjoy a good whiskey and want to learn more…

Thank you to the Arizona and Flagstaff communities who lent volunteers to our annual effort in July 2023! It takes over 500 volunteers to produce a festival of the scale we have grown to enjoy.
