Assisting Latin Day Laborers in Chicago
Gretchen Moore started at nonprofit organization 12 years ago called “Northside Latin Progress” helping Latin day laborers in Chicago. She collects donations like blankets, coats, shoes, and food for about 170 men. When they needed transportation, she was able to find people willing to donate old bicycles. She could write a book on their stories on how they came to America. Many are there without their families, and so my mom tries to help them from the kindness of her heart anyway she can. Through all of her hard work, she spreads the word to continue to get donations for these men. Due to Covid, the little bit of assistance she received from a Catholic church has stopped. Gretchen marches on relying on donations to take to these men. Money donated to her cause will go towards Chicago bus passes ($48.00 a month), coats, work boots, food and other basic needs.
CBS Chicago Morning Show (click on link) aired a segment on December 15th telling her story. Would you help us raise money to benefit North Side Latin Progress, a qualified nonprofit charitable organization? Any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to my mother, Gretchen Moore!
