Our entire community has been grief stricken by the loss of an incredible individual, Mackenzie Foster. Mackenzie died tragically on May 16, 2018. Her sudden passing has left us confused, devastated, and heart broken.
Mackenzie was a senior at the University of Denver studying Emerging Digital Technology and Psychology. She was an outstanding student and a fierce athlete. Mackenzie taught us how to accept everyone for who they are. She had the ability to make anyone feel comfortable in even the most difficult situations. Mackenzie had battled with the difficult and often misunderstood condition of mental illness for many years.
Mackenzie’s Memory fund will help support the PVMHS Student Health Center. The PVMHS Student Health Center opened in 2015 after a community collaboration to bring needed health services to the high school. The Student Health Center is operated by North Shore Community Health, a federally qualified health center with locations in Salem, Peabody, and Gloucester and is supported by grants from Boston Children's Hospital and other funding sources. Students have access to health education, immunizations, physical exams, episodic health care and behavioral health counseling. All services are delivered regardless of the families' ability to pay; no family is charged for any services rendered.
Funds raised will be directed to the cost of the 2 full time licensed social workers and counselors that provide individual and group counseling in the Student Health Center.
