Support Palestinian Families: Greenhouses for Sustainability
This fund is created by a Seattle-based multi-faith community dedicated to supporting Palestinian families in the Bethlehem area who are struggling to make a living. For years, residents have faced immense hardship due to the West Bank barrier, which restricts movement and economic opportunities. These struggles have been further compounded by escalating Israeli settler violence, including a recent attack in mid-January 2025, when settlers burned a bus that had been donated to the community.
In addition to these ongoing challenges, Israel recently revoked work permits for over 200,000 Palestinians, cutting off a critical source of income for families across the West Bank. As a result, many families in villages surrounding Bethlehem are now unemployed and struggling to provide for their basic needs.
To help Palestinian families regain economic independence, we are raising funds to build four greenhouses like the ones shown. These greenhouses will allow families to grow their own food for personal consumption and sell produce at local markets to generate income. Each greenhouse costs approximately $3,000, making them a crucial investment in long-term sustainability, especially during the winter months, when food security is most precarious.
Your donation will directly support the resilience and self-reliance of Palestinian families. Funds will be provided to Holy Land Trust, specifically Mohannad Al Araj, who will oversee the greenhouse construction.
