Meet "Stuart"!

Stuart came to Nine Lives Rescue in September of 2025, from the Humane Society of Tacoma/Pierce County. He is a Cockatiel, for those who don't know. He's a medical needs bird, that came to us missing half of one leg, and what we were told was missing an eye. We brought him in, got him settled down, and began working to see how we could help. It turned out that the eye was there, but it's badly damaged. We have been trying to keep him healthy and let the damaged eye heal, but it's become necessary to remove his eye. In order to prepare for this surgery, we need to have several tests done, which total somewhere around $500. Once the tests are done and we get the go ahead to remove the eye, we are anticipating somewhere between $500-$700 for the surgery itself. Once this is complete, we can transfer Stuart to a special needs bird home, and he can resume living his best life. We have funded Stuart's needs out of pocket thus far, but need some help to offset the costs, so we can help others as the need arises. We would GREATLY appreciate any help, if you can. Thank you!

He came to us as "Yellowbeard", as named by HSTPC, but we thought he was a "Stuart", like our favorite Minion. He does like bananas.
