Help Us Support Our Dancers During COVID-19!
It was a painful decision but we knew that responding to the COVID-19 crisis correctly meant postponing or outright canceling our entire Spring season. This loss includes our BAM Fisher Season, Offline+ series at BAM, Suffolk College performances, tour to Iowa, annual Spark and Ember concert, 15th Season celebration, and grand opening of Nimbus Arts Center at The Lively.
Despite the financial blow, we will never regret prioritizing the health and well-being of our community. In acknowledging this loss of contracts and guaranteed revenue, we are forced to accept that we can no longer financially support the incredible artists who have devoted themselves to performing, teaching the youth and representing the greatness of Jersey City.
This season, it was our sincerest hope to reveal what your 15 year investment with us has built. In that time, Nimbus has grown into Jersey City’s largest non-profit arts organization, brought world famous choreographers and dancers to perform for our great city, educated youth in every district, and proved that a high quality arts education can transform lives for the better. If you have ever seen or participated in our annual Jersey City Nutcracker, then you are already familiar with this line: “We are helping to create the incredible future of Jersey City”. Despite the current circumstances, we are proud to say that your support has helped bring that future ever nearer, and we won’t give up on it now.
On behalf of our dancers and teachers, we ask that you consider making a donation to ensure that this grand vision continues. The 14 dancers of Nimbus and Nimbus2 are here for you, and we hope that you will help us show that you are here for them too. Any amount that you can spare will go a long way towards helping us return to representing the greatness of Jersey City, after this crisis has passed.
From our family to yours, thank you and stay strong during COVID-19.

About Nimbus:
Nimbus Dance bridges the gap between world-class performances and community engagement by presenting work that challenges, speaks to, and elevates the core beliefs of its diverse audience. Founded in 2005 by Samuel Pott and based in Jersey City, Nimbus stands at the forefront of excellence in the arts, civic engagement, and equitable impact, successfully interweaving its mission between Company, School, and Presenting wings. With a repertory of over 30 works, the Company performs on tour nationally and throughout the greater New Jersey/New York region, impacting 16,000 people each year. Nimbus’ community engagement initiatives serve over 7,000 children annually through in-school, movement-based programs, while The School of Nimbus holds 45 classes throughout the week and also offers a Junior Youth Ensemble, Nimbus Youth Ensemble, and the Pre-Professional Program. Most recently, Nimbus was a recipient of DanceNYC’s Dance Advancement Fund in recognition of the company’s demonstrated commitment to diversity, justice, equity, and inclusion.
Nimbus Dance is proud to announce the future opening of its permanent new home, Nimbus Arts Center at the Lively, located at 321 Warren Street in Jersey City's Powerhouse Arts District. Originally slated to open in spring 2020, the Nimbus Arts Center at the Lively is a 14,200 sq. ft. multi-arts facility on the ground floors of the building. With the interruption of the COVID-19 quarantine, Nimbus has relaunched its Capital Campaign to replace lost funds for theater outfitting costs and interior construction of the 2nd floor.
