The Newton Food Pantry is an organization that has risen to the call of the needs of the community during the past year. Due to the ongoing pandemic and financial crisis, more of our Newton neighbors cannot afford enough food than ever before. Today the Newton Food Pantry serves three times as many people, including rising numbers of children compared to previous years. The Newton Community Freedge , a new collaborative led by the Newton Food Pantry opened this past March based on the principle, “Take what you need, leave what you can”, has become a vital resource for many families.
Each month the Newton Food Pantry provides a free 10-day supply of nutritionally balanced food and vital personal care products to more than 1,500 Newton residents. That equates to 750 bags distributed per week. Newton Food Pantry also delivers food and personal care products to more than 45 medically homebound residents. This is all accomplished by an all-volunteer food pantry that receives no direct funding from the city, state, or federal government. Newton Food Pantry relies on private support from generous individuals, businesses, religious organizations, schools, community and neighborhood groups, and charitable foundations.
I would greatly appreciate your support in reaching my goal of $7,000 which would be benefiting my neighbors and community which I am grateful to call home.
“It is one of the beautiful compensations of life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself.”
