Help Newman!
Hey Newman Alum and Friends! Mike Sauter here. I miss you all! In 2020 the Newman Community here at Geneseo lost all of its Diocesean stipend, which was 90% of our budget. We have been skidding along since there simply because there were so few opportunities to gather. So we cut the ministry to size and used some savings and had some donations at key moments from some community members and alumni, and just kind of kept the lights on, metaphorically speaking. But now it's time to grow again and to reshape the Church as we do it.
Because the vast majority of my years at Newman have overlapped with the popularity of Facebook, I'm focusing on this page, and you who are reading this, to raise the necessary funds to keep the ministry going another year. As I'm sure you know, there is a mental health crisis with youth and young adults and I'm convinced that prayer, fellowship in Christ and true community, as you experienced it here, is a huge part of turning that around. I'd ask for your generous support and ask you to spread the word to your friends from back in the day.
The "Charity" says "St. Luke the Evangelist", the local parish, but be assured that all of your donation goes directly to Newman, (minus, of course, what the good folks at GoFundMe rake off the top.) Thank you!! It will be such fun to be in touch with you during this time. Mike
