New York State Weimaraner Rescue

We first noticed a picture of Jeffrey on Facebook listed under a small South Carolina pound’s  page. Jeffrey is a big guy and so happy and unique,
I was really sure a closer rescue would commit to saving his life so he would not be euthanized. No one came forward. I wrote the facility and requested they let me know if he was in danger and today they wrote me. I cannot stand by and not help him and I am pretty much begging anyone who reads this to please, please help us save him. We are a Weimaraner rescue in NYS and funds are incredibly tight right now. Jeffrey is not only far away from us in NY but he is also heartworm positive and pretty much completely unvetted. We need these funds to save his life and get him to a vet, and to us here in NY where he will find a forever home once he is vetted and healthy again.

His treatment will not only be extremely costly, but he will need to be medically boarded, have treatment started, and be transported here to us in NYS.  Even then, committing to taking a non Weimaraner is a HUGE deal for us because most people who adopt from us want Weimaraners so non weims typically take longer to adopt. New York State Weimaraner Rescue is a small  501(c)(3) charity.  We are currently experiencing an influx of urgent dogs from the south. First, a litter of mixed breed pups  was found dumped on the side of a dirt road in rural Mississippi. We committed to taking them into rescue and currently have them receiving medical care so when healthy enough they can make the trip to NY. 

We also recieved an urgent request from a pound in Alabama about a dog being surrendered to an open intake pound that tested positive for heart worms. This facility required an immediate rescue commitment or he would be euthanized on the spot...so even though the treatment is expensive  and time consuming and we are completely overwhelmed we said yes. The only other option would have been for him to be taken to the neighboring county’s shelter that too would have euthanized him. This dog truly needed us.

The funds raised from this campaign will go towards the rescue expenses and medical care for these dogs until they are adopted. Rest assured, any  overages,  if any will be used for the next dog(s) in need.
