I attend the school M.S.447 and the reason why I am fundraising for the Billion Oyster Project is because I care about my community, sea life and having clean water. I am learning about the Billion Oyster Project in my Exploration class and it is a non-profit organization with the goal to restore 1 billion oysters by the year 2035. Did you know that oysters filter out water? This helps the habitat for the creatures that live in the sea.

Billion Oyster Project is restoring oyster reefs to New York Harbor through public education initiatives.

Hi! My name is Grayson Hall. I go to MS 447 and I love basketball and school. This project is part of my school Expo Project, and I chose something I really care about - the Billion Oyster Project.

The Billion Oyster Project is working to bring one billion oysters back to New York Harbor by the year 2035. A long time ago, there were lots of oysters in the harbor, but they were almost all wiped out because of pollution and people taking too many. Now, this project is helping to fix that.

Oysters are amazing because they clean the water and give other sea animals a place to live. One oyster can clean up to 50 gallons of water every single day! That helps make the harbor healthier and brings more life back to the water.

So far, they’ve restored over 100 million oysters and worked with lots of students to learn and help out. I’m raising money to support them because I think what they’re doing is really important for our planet and our future.
