NY COMMON PANTRY:

Mission: New York Common Pantry reduces hunger and promotes dignity, health and self-sufficiency.

About us: NYCP programs work together to meet the needs of food insecure families and individuals, providing services at our own locations and community partner sites citywide. Choice Pantry distributes nutritionally balanced grocery packages to thousands of people annually at our locations in East Harlem and the Bronx. Our innovative “choice” model allows Pantry members to select the contents of their bi-weekly grocery packages online. All Pantry packages include meat and non-meat proteins, fresh vegetables and fruits, grains and dairy products. Choice Pantry provided nearly 3 million meals in FY22, reaching over 20,000 food insecure individuals. Hot Meals program, based at our East Harlem location, offers healthy freshly prepared meals five days a week and “brown bag” lunches on weekends. NYCP provided 58,012 meals through this program in FY22.Our Nourish program serves low-income seniors in their own communities, providing supplemental grocery packages for more than 17,000 individuals over 60 years old in FY22. Mobile Pantry, our newest food provisioning program, brings the same fresh nutritionally balanced grocery packages available at our brick-and-mortar pantries to community partner sites citywide. Mobile Pantry served more than 40 sites in Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens in FY22, providing 2,011,305 meals.

Thanksgiving Specific: The fight against hunger does not stop! An estimated 1.5 million New York City residents are currently experiencing critical levels of food insecurity. Rate of inflation are at a 40-year-high and, as a result, NYC food pantries have seen visits increase by 69%. During the holiday season, families feel these challenges more than ever. The ability to sit down with loved ones and enjoy a delicious holiday meal is out of reach for many. You can fill their tables! For just $60, you can provide one New York City family with a full holiday meal - turkey, fresh produce and sides.

General Donations:

$1.11 = 1 choice pantry meal

$5 = 1 hot meal

$10 = $40 worth of rescued food for NYCP to distribute

$20 = 1 week of produce of 10 families

$50 = Supports our Mobile Pantry program

$60 = 1 full Thanksgiving meal for a family of 4
