Help New Glarus Rural EMS Save Lives!
Want to join us in making a difference? The New Glarus Emergency Medical Service Inc, has been serving the Town and Village of New Glarus and surrounding area for more than 45 years, providing safety training and emergency care and transport to area hospitals for people during their greatest time of need.
The service employs a full-time Chief and part-time administrative assistant/AEMT, and is staffed by 18 volunteers, who respond to 911 emergencies around the clock. New Glarus Area EMS covers 88 square miles and serves approximately 5,000 residents. This number swells to many times that number during the village's many festivals. In addition to answering more than 400 calls each year, the service provides mutual aid to surrounding communities.
Funding for New Glarus Area EMS is provided in part through taxes and fees, but is largely dependent upon donations and grants. The service utilizes two ambulances, each fully-equipped to provide emergency care. New Glarus Area EMS is starting an ambitious capital fundraising project to update the station to accommodate equipment storage and volunteers, replace the aging ambulances and replace heart monitors and over 25-year-old protective gear.
Please help us with Phase 1. The monies raised through this campaign will be used to purchase new heart monitors/defibrillators that can communicated directly with emergency room staff and to provide new safety gear for volunteer EMTs.
