Give the Gift of Movement: Support the Neuro Fitness Fdn.
John Nichols was paralyzed in a water-skiing accident in 1988. After his hospital stay and physical therapy, he struggled to find a facility that could help him live his life to the fullest, both physically and mentally. Motivated by his own experience, John envisioned a space where others facing similar challenges could find support. In 1998, that vision became a reality with the founding of the Neuro Fitness Foundation (NFF). For 27 years, NFF has operated as a unique nonprofit dedicated to empowering individuals living with neurological impairments, providing a facility where they can exercise their bodies and minds. Beyond physical benefits, NFF creates a strong, supportive community for individuals, families, and caregivers.
Our members face a range of diagnoses, from stroke and multiple sclerosis (MS) to spinal cord injuries (SCI) and traumatic brain injuries (TBI). Often, they come to us after their insurance coverage for rehabilitation ends, leaving them with limited affordable options to continue their recovery. Our adaptive gym offers a vital lifeline, helping them regain independence and improve their quality of life.
Imagine:
• A stroke survivor who once relied on a wheelchair now walks with an assisted device.
• Someone regaining their voice after a brain injury and now cheerfully welcoming others.
• A person with MS who was once pushed in a wheelchair by a family member now drives to the facility himself.
• Individuals once lost in depression now offer encouragement and friendship to fellow members.
These are the realities made possible at NFF. We see the transformative power of specialized exercise every day, helping members with conditions like stroke, MS, SCI, and TBI, often after their traditional rehabilitation ends. At NFF, everyone becomes family, supporting each other through progress and setbacks.
NFF needs your help. We are facing a critical need to raise $25,000 by April 30 to keep our doors open. In our community, there is no other adaptive fitness gym where clients can have the equipment and resources that they need at an affordable cost. Your donation will directly support our life-changing programs, empowering our members to reclaim their lives. Here are some ways your donations can help:
• $45 helps with one adaptive class
• $75 can cover one-month storage
• $100 can assist with one-month supplies
• $100 covers purchase of one specialty hand fixation glove to strap client’s hand on equip
• $700 helps NFF provide an annual gym fee for one client
• $1,000 covers maintenance of the gym
• $2,500 would support repair of equipment
• Any amount would be critical for supporting our operating costs and staff that pour their time into a healthy and friendly environment
Please join us today and help NFF continue its vital mission. Donate now to give the gift of movement and independence. To learn more about our mission, visit www.neurofitnessfoundation.org.
