Help Toby live a pain free life
Hello, I would like everyone to meet Toby.
He is the most sweet, loveable, old soul 3 year old pitbull I have ever met.
Nauti Dawg Rescue pulled Toby from a high kill shelter just before he was about to be euthanized.
Once we got him back to our facility, we knew we had a problem on our hands.
He had a prolapsed rectum.
Unfortunately, this was probably the reason why he was surrendered to the kill shelter.
We took him to our vet and we scheduled surgery ASAP for a *purse string" which was done but as soon as we pulled the stitches he prolapsed once again. Which is common unfortunately for this type of surgery.
If the rectum is still healthy, and the purse string did not work, a colopexy may be required. This is a more invasive surgery done by opening up the abdomen. The colon is tacked to the inside wall of the abdomen to prevent the rectum from slipping out again.
We have been quoted minimum of $3,000 for this surgery to be done.
We feel that the surgery is needed because he has prolapses almost every day and is in constant pain and always feels pressure which leads to bleeding and sometimes assisted reinsertion.
One vet suggested we put him to sleep but he is such an amazing dog that we just cannot do such a thing without trying everything we can to give him a better life.
This dog is so incredibly friendly. He is dog friendly. Kid-friendly, he loves puppies and everyone that comes to meet him.
This poor amazing dog is in pain.
He very much needs this surgery done to give him a better life.
Nauti Dawg Rescue is a small rescue located in the Northwest Panhandle of Florida.
We are just starting out and have not even celebrated our 1st year yet, (Oct 21 2022) and do not have the following as some big rescues have. So if you could help us and contribute to giving him life without pain we would greatly appreciate it
