Sri Sri Radha Damodar Mandir Calls For Service Donations - NOW

The value of our ‘seva’ (service) is established according to its necessity. Due to the pandemic, the holiest place in Sri Vrindavan Dhama, Srila Jiva Goswami’s temple — Sri Sri Radha Damodara Mandir is facing shortage of funds. Service donations made NOW to maintain seva at the temple, which also consists of the bhajan kutir and the kitchen of Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, will attract the most grace from Sri Sri Radha Damodara Jiu. 


We urge all devotees to take this great opportunity of service and send their service contributions immediately.


About the Temple:


Established by Srila Jiva Goswami in 1542, Sri Sri Radha Damodar Mandir remains dear to Vaishnava devotees. His Divine Grace Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada stayed at this temple for 6 years after accepting sannyasa and translated the first two volumes of Srimad Bhagavatam and wrote Ultimate Goal of Life, Easy journey to Other planets and many articles for Back to Godhead here. Srila Prabhupada’s rooms (bhajan kutir) are still being maintained at the temple. 


Srila Prabhupda says the following about Sri Sri Radha Damodar Mandir : 


“This corner at the Radha Damodar temple is just like the hub of the wheel of the spiritual world - it is the center” 


“I eternally reside in my rooms at the Radha Damodar temple”


Deities served in the temple are:

- Srila Bhugarbha Goswami’s Sri Sri Radha-Chailchikan jiu
- Srila Sanatan Goswami’s Govardhan sila (Given by Sri Krsna to Srila Sanatan Goswami)
- Srila Gorachand Goswami’s Sri Gaur Nitai
- Sri Nirmal Chandra Goswami’s Sri Jagannath Dev ji

Sri Radha Damodar mandir is also home to Srila Rupa Goswami’s Bhajan Kutir and Samadhi Mandir, Srila Jiva Goswami’s Samadhi Mandir, Srila Bhugarbha Goswami’s Samadhi Mandir, Srila Krishna Das Kaviraj Goswami’s samadhi and pushpa Samadhi of many great Vaishnava Acharyas.  


Details of the situation: 


Due to the current pandemic, the number of devotees visiting Sri Radha Damodar Mandir has declined significantly, resulting in much lower donations to help support the temple’s ongoing expenses. The temple has a significant amount of fixed expenses to cover the cost of bhoga, goshala, repairs, electricity, etc and are unable to maintain those expenses with the current level of donations.

On January 2nd 2020, Swami Bhakti Gaurava Narasingha Maharaja departed from this world amidst nama-sankirtana, surrounded by his many friends, disciples and well wishers. The next morning, Maharaja was placed in samadhi in his ashram, Govindaji Gardens, in South India.
 
Samadhi puja has already started, but Maharaja’s followers wish to build a modest samadhi temple in his honor and establish a deity of him for daily worship. It was also Narasingha Maharaja’s desire to install an asta-dhatu (metal) deity of Srila Prabhupada in Prabhupada’s puspa-samadhi.

 
To this end, we are requesting our friends and spiritual family to help us build the samadhi and establish deities of Maharaja and Srila Prabhupada. The design of Narasingha Maharaja’s samadhi will be the same as Prabhupada’s puspa samadhi in Govindaji Gardens. The only difference will be that we plan to have some base-relief carvings on either side of the door of lions which will be carved from cement by artisans from Tamil Nadu. In the future, if donations are forthcoming, we would like to do the same for Srila Prabhupada’s puspa-samadhi and the other temples in Govindaji Gardens.


The deities of Narasingha Maharaja and Srila Prabhupada will be made by Mr. Ashish Paul of Kolkata. Mr. Paul is a very skilled murti carver who has made beautiful deities of acaryas in the past such as Srila Bhakti Pramoda Puri Goswami (see photo). Narasingha Maharaja was very impressed with his work and stated that he was the only carver that he knew who could actually make a deity out of metal look like the personality it was supposed to be.
 

We humbly request all our friends and family to contribute whatever they can towards these two projects in order to glorify Srila Narasingha Maharaja and Srila Prabhupada. Hare Krsna!

His Holiness Sripad Bhakti Bhavana Vishnu Maharaja is currently a traveling
monk staying in Vermont based out of Karnataka, India.

He has been diagnosed with a rare and debilitating condition in his heart, causing
an irregular heartbeat, shortness of breath, and chronic fatigue. Along with this,
there are other serious health issues. The plan is to provide medical care to
Maharaja here in the US and help him travel back to India as soon as possible.
We want to raise money to support his healthcare expenses.

At the age of 77, he is currently being advised by the local medical community to
get a pacemaker installed immediately. It has also been suggested to explore
other treatment options. The sangha (community) is very small here, and without
insurance, we cannot catch up with the many treatment costs.

We are seeking your valuable donations to help cover these expenses. No
amount is too small or too big. Every dollar counts. Thank you for all your time

Brief Biography
In 1970 His Holiness B. B. Vishnu Maharaja graduated from Clarkson College of
Technology with a Master of Science degree in Physics. Leaving behind a
lucrative career in nuclear physics in 1975, Maharaja connected with his spiritual
master, His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, in Los
Angeles and fully surrendered to his lotus feet.

After joining the Los Angeles temple, Sripad Vishnu Maharaja took particular
interest in Krishna's consciousness philosophy and carefully studied the books of
Srila Prabhupada, such as Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam. After a few
months, Sripad Vishnu Maharaja received harinama initiation from Srila
Prabhupada, at which time he became known as Bhavananda Raya Dasa
Brahmacari. Shortly after that, he was recommended for brahman initiation and
received the sacred thread.

Always desiring to please Srila Prabhupada as a fully surrendered soul, Sripad
Vishnu Maharaja engaged in performing sankirtana [book distribution] and soon
became a recognized preacher by the community of devotees.

In 1982 Sripad Vishnu Maharaja met His Holiness Swami B. G. Narasingha
Maharaja. The two of them began a unique preaching and book distribution
program called the Museum of Vedic Culture. For five straight years, Sripad
Vishnu Maharaja traveled the United States' length and breadth preaching at
cultural festivals and distributing books to the Indian Hindu community.
During this time, Sripad Vishnu Maharaja made many pilgrimages to India, where he visited all the holy places associated with Krishna and Chaitanya Lila.

Throughout his devotional career, Sripad Vishnu Maharaja has always
demonstrated the quality of guru-nistha, having firm faith in his spiritual master's
orders. He is also the author of several books on Indian spiritual culture and
numerous articles on the Vedic sciences.

Vishnu Maharaja's character, and thus, he is always very dear to the devotees.
Sripad Vishnu Maharaja continues to serve the lotus feet of his divine masters,
preaching, publishing and leading the devotees in a life of holy service to Sri Sri
Radha Govinda and Sriman Mahaprabhu.
