Boranup Bushfire Recovery Fund
Please help Nature Conservation Margaret River Region to assist Fire Recovery in the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park.
The fires in the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park in December 2021 have had a devastating impact on native vegetation and animals. Whilst we know that the forest, woodlands and coastal heath will slowly recover over time, there is important work needed to help regeneration.
In the first instance, we all need to allow the ground to heal and be left undisturbed. But after awhile, weeds become abundant and can take over the burn site. Recovery can be assisted by controlling environmental weeds where necessary, especially the dreaded arum lily. This will give native vegetation a head start. Visibility and access for weed control is optimal in the first couple of years after the fire so we need to make the most of the opportunity that has come with the devastation.
Nature Conservation manages the successful Arum Lily Blitz in the region and has been working in partnership with the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions to control arum lily in the National Park. We will use all funds raised for on-ground work and fauna recovery in the area affected by the fire.
