Much of Pakistan has drowned. Torrential rains and rapidly melting glaciers have left nearly a third of the country underwater.

Approximately 35 million people - more than the population of countries such as Australia - have been affected.

Over 2000 people have lost their lives, and millions have lost their homes, livelihoods, livestock, and crops.

Pakistan produces less than 1 percent of the world's carbon emissions but is among the top 10 countries most affected by climate change.

It has faced flooding before, but nothing at this scale.

Pakistan cannot rebuild alone.

In Morial and Kifah's home province of Sindh, 23 out of 30 districts have been 'calamity hit.' Nearly everyone they know has been affected.

Morial's home district of Khairpur counts among some of Pakistan's worst affected districts. Many of Morial's friends and relatives have lost their homes. While her relatives will rebuild their homes, most of Khairpur's population will be unable to do so.

Although Pakistan's Navy is using boats to rescue Khairpur's people, it is impossible to drain the water because there is no place to drain it: there's water everywhere.

With standing water, public health concerns about disease outbreaks emerge. Dr. Shershah Syed and his friends and associates, including those at Pakistan's Medical Association and the US-based National Health Forum, have appealed for funds to provide clean drinking water, mosquito nets, and primary and emergency medical services. Dr. Shershah Syed and his associates have held several medical camps in the aftermath of Pakistan's previous floods and disasters.

Morial also worked on relief efforts and fundraising for Pakistan's previous disasters and created Georgetown University's student-led Pakistan Flood Relief Task Force.

Kifah is an experienced US-based activist, organizer, and faculty member at Columbia University in New York. She hails from Sindh's Badin district, which drowned in the 2010 and 2011 floods, and is expected to face catastrophic flooding as floodwaters move south.

We will direct funds from this page and associated fundraisers to the National Health Forum, Dr. Syed and Dr. Shekani's US-based 501(c)(3) organization. Funds will be used for healthcare, sanitation, rescue, and relief of affected families in Pakistan, mainly in the Sindh province.

Morial Shah, Dr. Shershah Syed, Kifah Shah, their friends and families, enthusiastic Pakistani corporate sector volunteers, graphic design volunteers, and student volunteers are organizing this fundraising campaign.
