National Center for Missing and Exploited Children

600,000 to 800,000 people a year are kidnapped and sold into human trafficking, 50% of which are estimated to be children. Although that number seems daunting, there are organizations working to rescue victims of human trafficking. As students of the Scholé Classics class, we have chosen to form the fundraiser Miles4Freedom. For this fundraiser, we are organizing a 5K running event on the 15th of February 2025 to raise money for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), which is an organization that works to fight against human trafficking.

We want to organize and participate in this run not because we love running but because we have seen the destruction that human trafficking has caused in our country, and we are working to do what we can to help fix this problem. My name is Rishani, and I am a 5th grader. As a part of my school project, I am raising funds to donate to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Did you know in the U.S. every 40 seconds a child is reported missing? An estimated 460,000 children are reported missing every year in the U.S. NCMEC assists in the recovery, protection, and prevention of harm to missing children. NCMEC helps in the distribution of Amber Alert calls, which are issued by law enforcement. I am the luckiest guy in the world. I have led an exciting life and met some wonderful, caring and selfless people who have been an inspiration. In 1998, I met two great people, John Walsh and his wife. Through his tragedy, John decided to make a difference. He and I had the opportunity to talk about the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and the work that they were doing to save children who were kidnaped, missing or exploited. He inspired me to see what I could do to help save these kids and make a difference.

John asked me to use the platform I had available to bring awareness to the National Center and help raise money to support their efforts. An amazing 94% of all funds raised go directly to protecting our children with great programs and coordination with law enforcement to help reunite families during their worst of times. There is no other company or organization that does what the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children does. They are the beacon of light during a family's darkest hours when looking for their missing child. We hope that someday we will be able to close the offices of NCMEC, but until then, we need help to provide the care and programs these children and their families need. I am doing all I can, will you help me?

Since 1998, I have been active in raising funds for NCMEC. Through sponsoring Charity Celebrity Golf Tournaments, Poker parties, and local events, I have met many wonderful and caring people who have helped me raise money for the center. It is a challenging but fulfilling adventure and one that I can think of doing some good with.

I am looking for people to pledge donations for the ride. Anyone is able to set their own pledge or you're welcomed to match my donation. As a recommendation, any mile after 1k within 24 hours is a $1 donation, that is what I plan on doing. For whatever reason I fail at the ride and don't do 1k miles within 24 hours, $1 for every mile under 1k will be donated by myself. All proceeds will go directly to the NCMEC. I will not take a single dollar of it.

I have plenty of preparation I need to do on my motorcycle before I plan on this ride. I rode 7k miles in the month of June 2025, so I feel confident that I am able to complete the ride.
