2021 Virtual 10K Skate-A-Thon
Did someone say Skate-A-Thon?! Nashville Roller Derby is hosting the 2021 Virtual 10K Skate-A-Thon to raise money for our league. Our members will be skating a 10K (or more) across Nashville between 4/25 and 5/1. It's a fun way to celebrate each other, our love of skating, and our love of Nashville.
Like many other roller derby leagues across the United States and the world, Nashville Roller Derby has stopped in-person practices and games since March 2020. It has been a long year of home workouts, virtual practices, and reminding each other that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. We are incredibly hopeful and excited about the possibility of restarting our league practices this year. As we get closer and closer to being able to skate together, we know 2021 and 2022 will be focused on rebuilding. That means recruiting and training new skaters, expanding our rental gear available, and finding new venues to skate in. Our main source of income (public games) is a more elusive possibility. To keep our league going and give us the best chance at a fresh start, we are asking our community to support us and the new skaters who will soon be joining our ranks. Funds raised will go directly to loaner gear, paying for practice space, and reducing the cost to new skaters to join our Bootcamp Program! #NRDSkateAThon2021
