About The Napa Communities Firewise Foundation (Napa Firewise)
NCFF was founded in 2006 with a mission to reduce the risk and impacts of catastrophic wildfires in Napa County. We are doing this through fire fuel reduction projects & community education. We oversee 18 all-volunteer, neighborhood Fire Safe Councils, 94% of which are in high/very high Fire Hazard Severity Zones, to serve 140,000 residents. 73% of the county’s 505K acres are in designated Fire Hazard Severity Zones. Our goal is to secure $300 million in grants to create a sustainable, wildfire-adapted community by 2050. Since 2019, we have raised $20 million to reduce fire fuel loads on thousands of acres in Napa County while enhancing forest health. Through leadership & outreach, we are empowering residents to share this responsibility to create defensible space around their homes.
