I'm raising money to support NABU in its mission to solve the global literacy crisis so that every child can read and rise to their full potential. Globally, over 250m children are illiterate, with 130m of these children unable to read despite four years at school.


In developing countries, books are extremely scarce, and 40% of children have virtually no access to books in the language they speak or understand, which is a major cause of illiteracy. This problem is only being exacerbated by school closures due to COVID-19.


Join me in helping raise funds to create a desperately needed early grade reading book in the Kinyarwanda mother tongue which is foundational in children developing basic literacy in Rwanda! NABU trains local authors and illustrators to publish mother tongue stories, creating a complete early grade reading collection to delight and engage children. These collections are published for free on the NABU reading app, which is available for free anywhere and is optimized for low bandwidth and offline reading. The NABU reading app is the fastest growing application in Rwanda and is reaching more than 90,000 children and their families every day.
