Mrs. H was our friend, our fan, and our support. She believed in us and gave us her time, her love, and her guidance.
We remember her bringing dinner to Mr. H and watching every one of our dress rehearsals, walking into the auditorium with Killer, and attending every night of our shows in her elegant floor length gowns. Many of us spent holidays with her at her home, sang with her at church, and confided to her about our lives.
One thing we will always agree on ... Barbie was the love of Mr. H's life and together, they inspired and touched generations of students.
It is because of Mr. and Mrs. Higginbottom that we love the theater and the arts, that we got outside of our comfort zones, and that we have the lifelong friends and memories that we now share.
Their legacy reaches beyond those of us that got to spend years with them in the Warren Woods Auditorium. It is because of them that we introduced the arts to our children and friends, and we passed on the love and inspiration that Mr. and Mrs. H showed us.
On October 30th, we lost a woman who was an angel to so many of us … and Mr. H lost his wife and best friend, Barbie Higginbottom.

There is not a lot we can do to ease the pain of a loss felt so deeply. And that is how it should be … because the depth of how devastated we are to lose Barbie is a testament to how much we loved her and how intensely she will be missed.

Mr. and Mrs. H have always wanted to make sure that their love of the arts would continue to ripple out to future generations. One of their labors of love is the Myrtlewood Arts Association which:
(1) Supports the Myrtlewood Children’s Theater Program,
(2) Provides scholarships,
(3) Supports the Warren Woods drama program, and
(4) Many other arts activities.
There are thousands of us around the country who have been touched by these phenomenal people. Many of us want to show our love and support, but for various reasons won’t be able to make it to Barbie’s memorial service in Michigan.
Today, we asked Mr. H what would be the most meaningful way we could support him and show our love and respect for Mrs. H.
He said it would sure mean the world to him to see a Memorial in Barbie’s name that would help to grow the Myrtlewood Arts Association. Through such a Memorial, Barbie’s memory will live on through the joy and enchantment Myrtlewood will be able to spread to new generations of performers.
What a tribute to this remarkable woman for us to, in Barbie’s name, make it possible for more children to have the life-changing theater experiences that we had!
