My Happy Place Animal Sanctuary, is a registered 501(c)3 volunteer organization dedicated to providing refuge to at-risk animals. We recently rescued and rehabilitated two Shire horses. The Shire horse is the largest of the draft breeds and were once a staple at farms across America.
The Shire horse is on the US Livestock Conservancy Critical List of Endangered Breeds. In an effort to help bring attention to these rare & magnificent animals, we have chosen to honor our fallen heroes from military, police and fire service with a horse-drawn caisson funeral procession.
What Is the Objective of this Campaign?
● To Elevate and Honor our Fallen Heroes;
● To Provide a Memorable Tribute for Families Who have Lost a Loved One;
● To Elevate Awareness of the Shire Horse and Their Endangered Status;
● To Help the Horses Support their Own Future Care through Meaningful Service.
Phase One of our efforts focuses on helping to acquire a practice carriage so the horses can train and continue their rehabilitation. Phase Two will help to fund the second, more ceremonial carriage. This carriage will be used in funeral processions to carry the casket of those men and women who have served in our armed forces, or local law and fire protection to their final resting place. Phase Three will be to raise the funds needed to acquire the necessary transportation vehicles.
The motto of My Happy Place is: "We are all just here to help walk each other home." Our caisson service will include a riderless horse, a horse with a rider carrying a flag, and the Shires will pull the horse-drawn caisson. We hope this service will bring an extra level of honor, respect and comfort to the families in their time of grief. This initiative will also give a sense of purpose and pride to our beautiful Shires.
Our caisson service requires buying a wagon, harnesses and trailer, as well as outfitting the volunteers who will drive, ride and escort the procession. We also need funds to continue providing quality care to our horses.
You can make a difference by donating today to My Happy Place Animal Sanctuary, Inc.
Won’t you help us to preserve this beautiful breed AND pay tribute to someone who served their community and/or country??
