You can make a difference by donating today to Museum Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The Museum building is a 13,500 square foot local history museum located in Libby, Montana, operated entirely by volunteers. The Museum is open 7-days a week during spring/summer/fall, and admission is by donation. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It consists of a unique rustic 12-sided, 2-story log structure built almost entirely by volunteers. It contains thousands of local history artifacts displayed in 41 professional-like exhibits. Unfortunately, its 37-year old sheet metal roof has been leaking for 3 years. No irreparable inside damage has yet occurred, but it's only a matter of time before it does happen. Volunteers have raised money and applied for grants to pay for a new roof. However, the cost of the materials for the project has risen by $100,000 since the original estimate. The low-bid local contractor was awarded a contract for $405,415 to complete the project. Unfortunately, due to inadequate prior insulation, condensation rotted the entire roof framework above the whole log roof rafters; thus, the framework as the whole must be replaced, plus the sheet metal. The contractor wants to begin work on July 1, 2022. The Museum has until that time to raise the rest of the money needed to complete the roof. Libby is a small, remote, and isolated community in the far northwest corner of Montana and surrounded by the beautiful Kootenai National Forest and the Cabinet Mountain Wilderness Area.
