In the past few days, Western North Carolina and East Tennessee have been ravaged by severe storms, bringing devastating flooding and widespread damage to our mountain communities. Homes have been destroyed, roads washed away, and families are struggling to cope with the aftermath of this disaster. The impact on our neighbors is heartbreaking, and the recovery process will be long and difficult.

Mountain Projects, a trusted community organization serving both WNC and parts of East Tennessee, is on the front lines, providing critical relief to those affected. They are working around the clock to deliver emergency shelter, food, and supplies to families in need, while also helping to coordinate cleanup and recovery efforts across both regions.

The Crescent Aid Foundation is collecting donations for the victims in Western NC who had their homes, businesses, and families destroyed by Hurricane Helene.

The widespread damage caused by Hurricane Helene will take a long time to be cleaned up and look like what it once used to. However, there is not enough attention being drawn to relief efforts in the area, so by starting this fundraiser, we are hoping to draw some attention and raise money that will go directly to mountainprojects.org, which is a non-profit set up in the Western NC area that will use the funds to help people that need it.

If you have ever been to the Appalachian Mountains or anywhere in the Western NC area, then you know the beauty of what it once used to look like. So please give what you can and share this with friends, family, and anywhere you can. Thank you.

Mountain Projects is a community based non-profit organization, founded in 1965 as a Community Action Agency, that provides vital services to the elderly, disadvantaged and general public in Western North Carolina. It was begun as part of the “War On Poverty” with a $52,000 Office of Economic Opportunity grant and a pilot summer Head Start program. Since then the agency has grown to an annual budget of eleven million dollars, a staff of 140, and provides a broad diversity of services to the community in response to its changing needs.
