Mothers' Milk Bank of North Texas

As we did for the last two years, we're asking for your help honoring the third birthday of our precious son, Brooks. Many of you know our story: we lost our son a week after he was born due to complications from surgery for conditions he was born with. Shortly after his passing, Laura began collecting and donating her milk to the Mothers’ Milk Bank of North Texas in his name. Through what was the darkest time in our lives, helping nourish other sweet babies with the milk intended for Brooks brought a small light and hope.

Mothers' Milk Bank of North Texas strives to improve the health and survival of infants through breastfeeding advocacy and the safe, equitable provision of pasteurized donor human milk. They envision a future when all babies have the opportunity to receive human milk.

Last year we were able to send the Milk bank an incredible donation in Brooks’ name and are hoping to do the same this year as well! This year, in addition to raising funds, we'd like to invite all who are interested to join us on a trail run and walk. We have chosen a beautiful 3 mile trail at Erwin Park in McKinney. We always feel connected to Brooks when we are outdoors and wanted to combine that with breaking a sweat. Working out is a huge part of our lives and we made a promise to each other that we would take care of ourselves for Brooks. We think this trail run/walk is the perfect way to honor our son this year!

We would love for you to join us on a beautiful morning outdoors celebrating Brook's 3rd birthday. This event will fall on his actual birthday this year, making it even more meaningful and special for us. Details will be attached in a facebook event or you can message either of us for more info. Attendance is free but we welcome your donations here, whether you would like to join us or support our effort from afar!

Last year we were able to send the Milk bank an incredible donation in Brooks’ name and are hoping to do the same this year as well! This year, in addition to raising funds, we'd like to bring all who are interested in for a workout at the Adaptive Training Foundation. The team at ATF are graciously donating their facilities and time for an evening that will consist of a couple hours sweating, socializing and honoring Brooks. We made a promise to each other that we would take care of ourselves for him. Working out is a huge part of our lives so we feel this is the perfect event for Brooks’ birthday (he did have huge baby biceps).

Please join us in honoring Brooks’ 2nd birthday. Understand that if you sign up for the workout there is no extra standing room in the facility so you are committing to working out with us, though the workout will accommodate all skills and fitness levels. Attendance is free and we welcome your donations here, whether you would like to join us or support our effort from afar! Please, no children under 18 allowed in the facility.

In honor of our sweet baby boy Brooks’ 1st birthday coming up at the end of the month, Logan and I wanted to do something special in his name. We are raising money for the Mothers’ Milk Bank of North Texas. This organization has a special place in our hearts. After we lost Brooks, I was still producing milk for weeks and had a bunch of my milk stored up at the NICU that Brooks was never able to use.

Even though our instincts were to just get rid of it all out of anger, the thought of dumping or throwing it all away made us sick to our stomachs. We knew we had to find another option. When I found the Mothers Milk Bank I knew immediately that’s where I was supposed to donate my milk. The thought of being able to help other sweet babies in the NICU who needed milk made us feel a connection to Brooks. I donated over a gallon of milk in Brooks’ name and it brought a small bit of positivity into our life during a really dark time.

We would like to make the donation on Brooks’ birthday, November 30th. We are so grateful for all the love and support we have received this year and would be honored if you could help us in making this donation in memory of our son on his birthday.
